Privacy Policy
Last updated: 8 October 2026
EveryChop connects people who want home-cooked food with verified home kitchens and delivery riders in Nigeria. This policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We have tried to write it in plain language.
1. Who this policy applies to
This policy applies to:
- EveryChop, our customer mobile app and the customer website at everychop.com
- EveryChop Kitchen, our mobile app and web portal for home-kitchen partners
- EveryChop Rider, our mobile app for delivery riders
In this policy, "EveryChop", "we", "us" and "our" mean the operator of these apps and websites, based in Nigeria. We are the controller of the personal data described here. You can reach us at admin@everychop.com.
2. What we collect
Everyone with an account
- Your name, phone number and email address.
- A password, if you set one. We store only a hashed (scrambled) version, never the password itself.
- One-time codes we send to your phone or email to confirm it is you. They are kept briefly (a few minutes) so we can check them.
- Notifications we show you inside the app.
Customers
- Delivery addresses: street address, a nearby landmark, city, and map coordinates, including your device location if you choose "use my location".
- Your orders: the dishes, any note you leave for the kitchen, prices, delivery fee, status and times.
- Payment records: the payment method type (card or bank transfer), the amount, the status, and Paystack's transaction reference. We do not collect or store your card number or bank login.
- Reviews, ratings, comments and photos you post, and any reports or complaints you send us.
Kitchen partners
- Kitchen name, full address, landmark and map location, and photos of your kitchen and dishes.
- Verification documents: a government ID (such as NIN, international passport or driver's licence), evidence of a Food Handlers Test, and your hygiene declaration.
- Your menu, prices, daily portions, and the orders you receive and how you respond to them.
- The status of your application and any notes from our review.
Delivery riders
- A profile photo (selfie), home address, and a government ID such as your NIN.
- Vehicle details and photos. For motorised vehicles, also your driver's licence, vehicle registration and a photo of the plate number.
- Your location while you are using the app and online, and the time you were last active, so we can offer you nearby deliveries.
- Your deliveries and earnings, and the status of your application.
Collected automatically
- Standard technical information our servers and hosting providers record when you use the service, such as IP address, request times, and error logs.
- On our websites, we use your browser's local storage to keep you signed in and remember things like your basket and chosen delivery location. We do not currently use advertising cookies or third-party analytics or advertising tools.
Permissions on your phone
- Location: used only while the app is open, to find kitchens near you, fill in an address, or (for riders) receive nearby deliveries. We do not track your location in the background. You can refuse or withdraw this in your device settings and enter an address by hand instead, though riders need location to receive deliveries.
- Photos and camera: used only when you choose to upload a photo or document, such as in the Kitchen and Rider apps.
3. How we use your data
- To create your account and sign you in, including sending one-time codes.
- To take and process orders: passing your order to the kitchen, calculating delivery fees, matching a rider, and confirming handover with the pickup PIN and delivery code.
- To take payment and confirm it with Paystack.
- To keep the platform safe: reviewing kitchens and riders before they go live, checking documents, and preventing fraud and misuse.
- To contact you about your orders and account by SMS, WhatsApp, email and in-app notifications.
- To provide support, handle reports and complaints, and resolve disputes.
- To maintain, secure and improve the apps and websites.
- To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, we rely on: performing our contract with you (running your order or partnership), your consent (for example device location, and uploads you choose to make), our legitimate interests (safety, fraud prevention, and improving the service), and legal obligations.
4. Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers. We share it only as follows.
With other people using EveryChop, as needed to complete an order
- The kitchen sees your name, phone number, order contents and notes, so it can prepare your order.
- The rider sees your name, phone number and delivery address, and the kitchen's name and address, so it can deliver.
- You, the customer, see the kitchen's name, photo, location and menu, and your rider's name and phone number during delivery.
- Reviews you post may be visible to other customers.
With companies that help us run the service
These providers handle data on our behalf, only for the purposes below and under their own security and privacy terms.
| Provider | What they receive | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Paystack | Your email address, the amount, and the payment channel (card or bank transfer). You enter card or bank details on Paystack's own page — we never see or store them. | To take payment for your order and tell us whether it succeeded. |
| Twilio and Termii | Your phone number and the text of the message (for example a one-time code or an order update). | To send you SMS and WhatsApp messages. |
| Our email service provider | Your email address and the content of the email. | To send one-time codes and order or account emails. |
| Google Maps Platform | Address text you type, and coordinates for your delivery address, your kitchen or your location. | To suggest addresses, convert between addresses and map coordinates, and calculate distances and delivery fees. |
| Render and Cloudflare | All data held by the service, including uploaded photos and documents. | Render hosts our servers, database and cache. Cloudflare R2 stores the photos and documents you upload. |
| Expo (Expo Application Services) | Technical information needed to deliver app updates, such as the app version and device type. | To build the apps and, for apps that use it, deliver over-the-air updates. |
With our own team
A small number of EveryChop staff can access personal data, including verification documents, to review applications, support you and keep the platform safe.
When the law requires, or to protect people
We may disclose data to courts, regulators (such as the Nigeria Data Protection Commission), or law enforcement when the law requires it, or when needed to protect the safety or rights of our users or the public.
If our business changes
If EveryChop is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, personal data may be transferred to the new owner, who must continue to protect it under this policy.
5. Where your data is processed
Some of our providers, such as Render, Cloudflare, Google, Twilio and Expo, process data on servers outside Nigeria. Where that happens, we take steps to make sure your data stays protected, as the Nigeria Data Protection Act requires.
6. How long we keep your data
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. After you close your account we keep only what we still need, for example order and payment records for tax, accounting and dispute purposes, and then delete or anonymise it. One-time codes expire within minutes.
7. How we protect your data
- Connections to our apps and websites are encrypted using HTTPS.
- Passwords are stored hashed, never in plain text.
- Access to personal data and verification documents is limited to the people and systems that need it.
- We never store your full card details; Paystack handles those.
No system is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security. Please keep your password and one-time codes private.
8. Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct data that is wrong or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your data, or restrict how we use it;
- object to uses based on our legitimate interests;
- receive your data in a portable format, where applicable;
- withdraw consent at any time, such as turning off location access in your device settings; and
- complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (ndpc.gov.ng) if you think we have mishandled your data.
To use any of these rights, email admin@everychop.com from the email address or phone number on your account. We may ask you to confirm it is you before we act.
9. Deleting your account and data
You can delete your account yourself, inside the app or on our website:
- EveryChop (customers): Profile, then Delete account — in the app, or on the website under Profile, Security.
- EveryChop Kitchen: Profile tab, then Delete account — or Settings, then Delete account in the kitchen web portal.
- EveryChop Rider: Profile, then Delete account.
We send a confirmation code to the phone number on your account first, so only you can do this. Deletion takes effect straight away: your name, contact details, saved addresses, reviews, notifications and any photos or documents you uploaded are removed. We keep only order and payment records, without your personal details, because the law requires us to keep them for accounting and disputes. You cannot delete your account while you have an order in progress; once it is delivered or cancelled you can.
If you cannot use the app, email admin@everychop.com with the subject "Delete my account" from the email address or phone number registered on the account, and say which app you used. We will confirm it is you and complete the deletion within 30 days.
10. Children
Our apps are not meant for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the "Last updated" date above, and for significant changes we will also tell you in the app or by email.
